The creation of average earnings index (AEI) in 1948 by Joe Estes became a benchmark for the Thoroughbred industry to compare stallions progeny performance from generation to generation…..The Blood-Horse created an index called the comparable index (CI) in 1982 which finds the average earnings index for all the other foals of the mares bred to a stallion.
